Finding that first home together when you got married was so important to establishing your life together. What made you decide to move up several years later?
Our daughter was ready to start kindergarten and we wanted her to attend Corinth Elementary. Because of our very specific location requirements, it took 2 years to find our dream home. Mike knew that we weren’t comfortable in making an offer on a house without first selling ours so he took the uncommon Realtor approach and found a buyer for our house before we ever listed it. This was a HUGE benefit for us for a couple of reasons. First, we were able to make a strong competitive offer without it being contingent on the sale of our home. Second, with two small children, it eliminated the process of preparing our home to sell, constantly cleaning and leaving it in show condition is a challenge for 2 full-time working parents of small children. Lastly, the selling process was very streamlined with no back and forth and a very quick and easy close.

What was your biggest concern about the move?
We had a very small radius to find a houGroup O'Dell - Client Profile: The Ectonsse and the market was moving very fast. We knew we would have to act quickly and see houses as soon as they came on the market. If Mike was not responsive and acted as soon as we saw a potential home to purchase, we would have lost out.

What was the best part of the experience?
We kept Mike on his toes for two years but he never stopped working hard for us. He reached out to friends in our neighborhoods of interest and builders to see if they were willing to sell their home – several in fact allowed us to see their homes and decide if it was a good fit. Everyone on the team understood the sense of urgency and worked together to help us. The most impressive point was when our “forever” home came on the market, we were the FIRST people to see it. Mike would give us the news personally while he was vacationing that we got our offer accepted. Not many realtors would have done that and it could’ve cost us our amazing home had he not had his eye on the ball even while he was on vacation.

It’s always a joy for us to serve our clients in ways that are unexpected. And as the Ectons would say, this is a full-time career choice for us. We’re not afraid to talk a client out of a house if it isn’t in their best interest. Call us if you’d like to create a plan to find your dream home.
