Lon B. Crainshaw (Grandfather) started cleaning windows after returning from WWII in 1945. Lon used his military discipline and
training to bring the most important quality to his company, service.
What started out as an opportunity to provide for his family has turned into a successful company providing that same opportunity for 18 employees. Son, and now President/Owner Gary Crainshaw learned from his father and started expanding the business over 30 years ago. Heart of America started off cleaning residential windows and small storefronts. Now, not
only do they continue to serve their residential clients, but also run multiple crews around Kansas City cleaning commercial storefronts and high-rise hotels and condominiums.
Since the expansion of Heart of America both of Gary’s sons have joined the team. His oldest son Gary Jr. after graduating from MSU holds the position as Operations Manager. Gregory (middle child) graduated from Park University and is in charge of PR and the Residential Crews. All three bring a different dynamic to the HOA team. I should also mention Molly and Faye, the Heart of America mascots. Molly is a 5lb Maltese and Fay a 75lb Weimerianer…both accompany the team everyday at work.
Heart of America is continuing its annual “Remembering A Cause” campaign this year through the Alzheimers Association of KC. They donate $5.00 from every home they clean througout 2012. Their first year HOA was able to give nearly $1200 to the Alzheimer’s Association. This campaign is not only for raising awareness, but also paying tribute to Lon B. Crainshaw who passed away with Alzheimers several years ago.
Why is window cleaning important? The first thing we need to know is that glass is porous. Over time dirt and grime build up on the windows filling those pours and ultimately staining the window. Stained windows obstruct the clarity of the glass and flat out just look grungy! Having your windows cleaned at least once a year will significantly prolong the life of the glass.
The price of a homes cleaning is based on the type of window the home has. HOA provides free estimates and quick scheduling.
Gary senior lives north of the river with his wife, Jan, and 19 year old daughter, Erica. Erica finished her first year at MSU where she is studying to become a teacher. Gary loves his family and serves on the financial board at his church.
