Are you ready for a four-legged family member?
Are you looking to add a furry, four-legged new best friend to your family? Maybe you are not ready for the long term commitment of adopting but are willing to take a dog into your home for a few weeks to help with socialization or while s/he recovers from a medical procedure? Whether you are looking to adopt or foster, our agent Michelle Sparks is excited to share some information with you about an organization close to her heart, Dogs By Debin.
Dogs by Debin, located in Kansas City, Missouri, cares for 30-50 dogs at any given time. Dogs arrive in their care for a variety of reasons. Some are owner surrenders, some are strays and some are pulled from local high intake shelters. Around half of the dogs are currently staying with foster families, just waiting for their forever home.
Dogs by Debin are not breed specific. They have an equal balance of dogs that need medical care, behavioral rehabilitation and many dogs that are just ready to go into that new home today. They have a mix of small to larger dogs of varying of breeds and mixes looking to be adopted. All of their dogs leave their care spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and heart-worm tested (and treated if needed).
The Dogs By Debin volunteers spend a lot of time matching the right dog to the right family. Some of the dogs have special needs. For these dogs, a trainer will deliver the dog to the new family to help with the integration process. The goal is to find a forever home for the dog and Dogs By Debin even offers counseling and resources to help with that process.

Volunteer at Dogs By Devin
Are you asking yourself what can you do? Dogs by Debin is always looking for volunteers.
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Helping dogs become socialized in play yards and training rooms
- Walking dogs (my personal favorite way to volunteer)
- Taking a dog on a “Dog Day Out” field trips to pet-friendly businesses
- Advocating for dogs by helping at adoption and fundraising events
- Becoming a foster family
You can also help with less hands on volunteering if that is what works for you. Right now Dogs by Debin is looking for an experienced Grant Writer that can help them. Do you know someone who may be able to offer their expertise?
They are also looking for raffle prizes with a minimum value of $25 for some upcoming fundraisers.
Do you want to help but don’t have time to volunteer? Please consider a tax deductible donation. There are so many ways to help. Please reach out to them if you want more information on any areas you want to help. Learn more about Dogs By Debin and the ways to help by visiting them at https://dogsbydebin.com/.
A note from Michelle Sparks:
Animal rescue is something that is very dear to my heart. If any of my clients are thinking about adding a sweet four legged dog to their family – I would ask you to consider adopting from Dogs by Debin. I will personally pay your adoption fees as a thank you for adopting from this great organization.
