Property Description
Welcome home!!! What a Wonderful gathering point for our family for the many years! My kids & I have called this home creating amazing memories! This Charming place has its idiosyncrasies, as all do. The Dry Solid Stone Basement walls may have settled Years ago, but with the coal chute is reminder of the yesteryears, comes along with the changes, as seen today! The Entire Original Woodwork, still there, needs the new owner to enjoy its beautiful, Charm & character! There is a lot of history within these walls. Built when William Howard Taft was president this house has been through some of the most remarkable times in the history of our country. From the roaring 20’s with its swing jazz to the birth of Rock and Roll in the 1950’s. The turbulent 1960s and the fashionable bell bottom jeans we wore in the 1970s…and let’s not forget the leg warmers & hair spray of the 1980s. That’s the beauty of owning an older home, and why I would never own anything else. You can feel the history walking though these halls and imagine the parties, family meals that have transpired over the century. Much of the molding, stained-leaded glass is the same as it was over 100 years ago. I lamented when I took down the original wallpaper from the living room…but left behind a small framed sample! The milk glass chandelier is original to the house. Lots of updates since we moved in to include a giant deck and privacy fencing. The bathrooms have been updated and central air, wall units have been added. Important Location, Valentine District is top place to live in KC! Its an enclave within the city that resonates good vibes where neighbors look after neighbors. There are block parties & there is the annual porch fest that brings in visitors from around the city. Walkable to everything, the Plaza, Westport, downtown all minutes away. Fun & Enjoyable for everyone! It is time for me to be closer to my Family, only to allow another owner to enjoy! May you have as many fond memories as well!
