Americans are fascinated with the tender and smoky goodness of local BBQ joints and craft beers that Kansas City has to offer. Every region has their specialty and certain style of BBQ.
Our friends at Plan B Catering have done extensive research to learn the different styles, then apply their our own creative ideas.
Their signature Not Your Mama’s Mac and Cheese cups topped with Pulled Pork and BBQ sauce has become a crowd favorite at events throughout Southern Johnson County, specifically Botanical Brewfest held at the Overland Park Arboretum.
One of the things that sets Plan B Catering’s Kansas City-style barbecue apart is their tomato-based sauce that’s sweeter because of the molasses, brown sugar and variety of spices that they make from scratch. Many other factors go into their barbecue like the type of wood used and length of time the meat is smoked.
They personally enjoy the flavor that comes from using Missouri White Oak for their smoking. Their belief is that it adds depth and complexity to their barbecue. This same wood is used for creating different flavors of whisky and bourbon as well. With that being said it’s that time of the year!
