At Group O’Dell we’re mission minded when it comes to our work. This work after all results in where families grow together, where they share their best memories, and where traditions are born. It’s where we find rest and comfort and where we can be ourselves. This is home!
Home is also the place we create spaces that are special to us. I’m sure just the mention of that makes you think of your favorite spot at home right now. Dan and I have a few favorite spots mostly due to remodeling projects that have improved functionality.
Our most recent project in our home was our dining room. Left over from the 1990’s were some pretty funky features that had seen better days. We decided we wanted to create a real intimate dining space so we darkened everything up. The walls the furniture, all of it. I wanted drama. The most dramatic thing we did was built a refrigerated wine cellar where our china niche was.
The wine system was easy once we found the source, they had everything we needed. We pushed the envelope even further by adding wallpaper to that feature wall. Yes wallpaper is back in a big way so I suggest you invest in wallpaper samples when purchasing online. After ordering several samples I chose this paper because it was even more gorgeous in person than I hoped.
Our 1990s chandeliers had long outlived its welcome but I had spent that last couple of years thinking about the overall finish I wanted rather than just updating fixtures. So the wow piece – the chandelier, came right off the showroom floor at Rensen House at a huge discount. Dan and I always loved going to Lydia’s in the Crossroads and this piece just reminded me of an updated version of their hand-blown chandeliers.
